Next in our Alumni Spotlight, we're delighted to feature Gina Marie Moore, a graduate of Hemlock's class of 2011.
After earning her Bachelor's in Communication from SVSU and currently pursuing her Masters in Communication from CMU, Gina Marie credits her high school experience for equipping her with valuable skills for post-graduate life. Mrs. Lockwood's BST class and Mrs. Columb's Consumer Math class were particularly instrumental, providing practical employment preparation and financial literacy.
Gina Marie's high school days were filled with tennis, community, and practical lessons. Reflecting on her alma mater, Gina Marie cherishes the warmth of returning to Hemlock, where friendly faces greet her at every turn.
She credits her tennis coach, Mr. Kunold, for instilling the value of hard work and practice. Her favorite high school memory? Why, making it to states with her tennis team in junior year.
Now, as a Customer Experience Banker at Huntington National Bank, she focuses on meaningful customer interactions, aiming to assist beyond transactions.
Her advice to current students? Stay open to experiences and don't fear change. It's okay to explore different paths until you find your passion.

As we work tirelessly to #PullTheSled full steam ahead, we are reminded of the old saying, "Rome wasn't built in a day." In our journey to create a brighter future for our students, staff, and community, we want you to know that our commitment is steadfast — even when the progress isn't immediately visible.
With multiple projects currently in motion, our efforts behind the scenes are shaping a path forward, filled with opportunities and enhancements for everyone we serve. We are building, growing, and learning every day, and your continued support fuels our drive and determination.
Thank you for your trust and patience as we transform challenges into stepping stones for success. Together, we are not just dreaming of a better future; we are making it a reality.

It's #TeacherFeatureTuesday and today we're featuring the kind-hearted Kylie Hawkins, music teacher to the little Huskies in Young 5’s through 4th grade here at our Hemlock Elementary Schools.

• Her favorite subject in school was English.
• A song she could listen to on repeat is “Neon Star” by Morgan Wallen.
• She hopes her students remember her delightful silliness and that she makes learning fun!
• Something people may be surprised to learn about her is that she loves trucks and talks about them a lot.
• Her favorite animals are cows.
We’re so thrilled to have you in our Huskie Pack, Ms. Hawkins!

Beautiful night for a Hemlock Varsity Soccer win over Alma, 4-1. Way to #PULLTHESLED ladies.

Embarking on an epic journey, 50 of our Hemlock High School students ventured to Cleveland, Ohio for the Eclipse Fest, just a stone's throw away from NASA's Research Center, to watch the total solar eclipse. 🌒 It was an awe-inspiring expedition, crafting memories that will last a lifetime.
📷 Thanks to Coty Kuschinsky, Chief of Staff & Communications Supervisor at the Saginaw ISD, for these great photos

Makeover nearly complete, as Hemlock Middle School Science Teacher Kyle Wilkowski gets ready for a day of instruction in a newly renovated science classroom.
Thank you McNalley Office Furniture and Supplies for installing the new classroom furniture over break.

Just a reminder to our Huskie pack that the eclipse will start at 1:58 PM for the Saginaw county area, peak at 3:13 PM, and end at 4:26 PM ☀️🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑
While this extraordinary display of nature will be viewed by many, safety precautions must be followed as it is never a good idea to look directly into the sun.
Be sure to check out our Tips for the Eclipse news release for best practices: https://www.hemlockps.com/o/district/article/1534612

Mrs. Schmidt's Kindergarten STEAM students have been learning why the sun changes position in the sky. After coding models to show how the Earth's rotation causes the sun to appear to move across the sky, the kids then explored eclipses using an augmented reality app. ☀️🌖 🌗 🌘 🌑 They did a great job problem-solving and collaborating to work out bugs in their codes. Way to go, little Huskies.

This week's #StaffSpotlight is on the marvelous Megan Bedford, our Preschool Director and a Teacher here at Hemlock Elementary School and Early Childhood Center.
Apart from having 25 years of teaching experience under her belt, here are some other nuggets of information to help you get to know her a little better:
• As a child she knew she was either going to be a full-time mom with a house full of 10 children, or a teacher.
• If she won the lottery and decided to give up her position at HPSD, she would love to be able to go into schools and assist with classroom design and explore different ways to set up an environment that creates a place, not just a space.
• We asked her how she thinks her students will remember her and her class, and she said: "That their ideas and questions were answered, not just told to them, and that they were an active part of the learning process."
• An accomplishment that fills her with pride so far this year is watching her son graduate high school and attend college at NMU. She said it's been exciting to watch him navigate life, set goals, and become the best version of himself.
• A quote she lives her life by is, "The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and dance and live only as you can," from Neil Gaiman.
We’re so grateful you’re part of the Huskie Pack, Mrs. Bedford!
