Another Hit From Mrs. Slominski’s 8th Grade Growth Class!
Including a Special Guest Lucie the Unicorn!

This week Addison McFadden and Ren Smith led a presentation, as well as Natalie Casey and Kinley Davenport. A lot of hard work and time went into these presentations, and time showed great skill and thought out ideas.

Ren and Addison’s presentation was full of sunshines and lollipops, also including UNICORNS!!! Unicorns are seen as very unique creatures, but they showed that it isn’t just unicorns that are unique. Their presentation includes puzzle pieces that will be hung in the halls. These pieces have a quote in them, “I am unique because…” These pieces are set forth to Mr. Siler’s 6th and 7th grade growth classes. We can’t wait to see what kind of unique things these kids have to offer!

Natalie and Kinley’s presentation kept it going with the uniqueness! They created homemade board games that had open spaces for the kids to fill with their own, fun ideas. They got to use their growth mindsets while expressing themselves. The classroom will definitely be filled with fun this week. We can’t wait to see all the fun ideas that the kids come up with for their board games!

Another successful Color Wars in the books! It was a super close race but 6th Grade brought the most class color spirit, earning them points in the contest for Class Cup. Good job, everyone!

Last week at Hemlock Middle School, the staff held an Underground Spirit Week! Students may have felt like something was a little off on Monday when the entire staff was dressed head-to-toe in gray.

This was followed by Socks and Crocs Day, Dress Like a Student Day, and College Day. We think the secret was officially out by Friday, though, when staff showed up as Sesame Street and Disney characters.

Thanks to everyone who joined in on the fun to make it another great week at HMS!

MRS. SLOMINSKI’S GROWTH CLASS PRESENTS - “Who should you be…?”
With help from class of 2030

“Who Should You Be…?” Was a project directed by Haley Vanderwall. This project includes 4 posters that students will look up to and apply. These posters have the quote, “Be the best version of you.” This quote appears in our hallways to give students words of encouragement throughout their days.

This quote not only helps the students in our growth class, but it means a lot to us as well. Being upperclassmen in middle school, it has not only shown, but it has proven how far you can go if you are YOU.

Some may wonder what this quote means, but the answer to this question would be different for everyone. The answer is not the same for everyone, because not everyone is the same. Being the best version of yourself may mean that you accomplished a dream, or you make a new friend, or you look how you please, but the thing is all of those are different. Being the best version of yourself, is being you. Being the person that you are, and being the person that you don’t want to change. Be you.

“Be the best version of you.”
