Dear 4th grade Parents or Guardians, I’m excited to announce that recorders will be returning to our curriculum this year!! Recorders are an excellent way for students to explore instrumental music without many of the challenges that come with beginning band instruments. This will help your student increase their coordination, confidence, and a whole host of musical skills. We will be using these skills in a performance that parents will be invited to. The date of this performance will be announced shortly, and it will be live-streamed for anyone who will not be able to attend. Unfortunately, our program does not have the budget to provide every student with a recorder of their own so there will be a small additional cost and the students will be able to bring home their recorder at the end of the unit. The school will be ordering the recorders through Marshall Music, which will ensure that they will be a high-quality recorders to give students the best chance at success. The additional cost will be $7. Please have your students turn in their money to Mr. Cramer or their classroom teacher as soon as possible. The last day for these payments is 10/08/2021. If you can not afford this expenditure please contact me or Lori Gensch. I look forward to showing your students the wonder of playing wind instruments for the first time. If you have any questions always feel free to contact me by email or by phone Quin R. Cramer Elementary Music Teacher cramer@hemlockps.com 989-642-8008 ext.3133
