🦷 Is it hard for you to find time to get your child to the dentist? Well, now the dentist can come to your child. We are partnering up with Great Lakes Bay Health Centers Mobile Dental Bus for your child's dental health. On September 5th one of their hygienists will be at the elementary schools to talk to the students about the importance of brushing their teeth. Your child will be sent home with a form. Fill this out if you'd like your child to be seen and send it back to school with them. They will work directly with your insurance company and get your child scheduled. On September 13 + 14, the bus will park at each of our campus buildings, do cleanings, and an exam by the dentist. Our school nurse will work with the secretaries at each building to get them safely to the bus for their cleaning and dental exams. Once they are done, they will return to class with a new toothbrush and a report card to take home. If you wish to have your middle or high school students seen, simply have them stop by their school office on September 5th and grab a form. Make sure to get the forms back as soon as possible so they know how many students to expect. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to Nurse Becky at killingbeck.becky@hemlockps.com. ✨ Huskie Health starts with a clean mouth! Did you know that the Hemlock Sports Boosters have provided our student athletes with college scholarships annually since 1993? Pictured with HSB President Scott Schaffer are the nine 2023 Scholar Athletes who each received $1000 for their higher education. Scott states, "The Hemlock Sports Boosters are dedicated in their support of Hemlock's student athletes. We fundraise to provide uniforms and equipment and support special projects, however, these scholarships are among our most gratifying in playing a part in the future success of our Hemlock kids. We truly appreciate and thank our great volunteers who make our events and activities possible". The Sports Boosters run on ALL VOLUNTEERS and it truly does take a village to keep it running. Please consider joining them and giving of your time and talents. Sign up for a shift (or two) here: qrco.de/beIICp #SportsBoosters #BetterTogether #ItTakesAVillage #HemlockStrong

It's #TeacherFeature Tuesday and today we're featuring the marvelous Monica Kaczynski, who teaches Exploratory Spanish (6th & 7th grades), Spanish 1 (8th grade), and Spanish 2-3 (high school). You may not be surprised to find out that ‘World Languages’ was her favorite subject in school, but you probably don’t know that she’s a wizard with royal icing. That’s right, our very own Mrs. Kaczynski is a cookie artist! She decorates sugar cookies for all kinds of celebrations. Here are a few more nuggets to know: • She loves music and could listen to Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen on repeat. • If she won the lottery and gave up teaching, she’d travel the world. • She enjoys baking and specializes in making "Pastel Tres Leches" (which she makes and shares with her classes at least once a year). We're grateful to have you in our Huskie Pack, Mrs. Kaczynski! #Huskietastic #Since1863 #HPSDPackLeader #HemlockStrong

This week's #StaffSpotlight is on Kacie Hook, one of the newest additions to the Huskie pack. We are thrilled to have her joining us as an Instructional Coach here at Hemlock Public School District. We wanted you to get to know her a little better, so here are some fun facts about Kacie: • If she won the lottery and didn't have to work anymore, she'd choose to be a "stay at home" mom traveling around the world. • She can cook gourmet mac and cheese to perfection (and even said she'd be willing to share her killer recipe with us). • If her life was turned into a movie, she would want Amy Poehler to play her. • Her favorite animal is a lion. • And lastly, she could listen to anything by Taylor Swift on repeat. Welcome to the pack, Kacie. We are grateful for all the passion and experience you bring to the Hemlock community! #PackLeaders #Huskietastic #BetterTogether #Since1863

Over 60 students attended Senior Sunset this past Sunday, an annual event hosted by the class officers. The seniors were met with a Hemlock High School Senior 2024 sweatshirt to wear during the school year and enjoyed a sunset picnic together to celebrate the commencement of their final year of high school. It's #TeacherFeature Tuesday, and today we're featuring the lovely Renea Klopf, who has been a Kindergarten teacher at Hemlock Elementary for 7 years. She has always wanted to be a teacher, torturing her younger cousins with endless pretend sessions of school in her pretend classroom. If she won the lottery and gave up teaching, she'd buy a large cabin on a private lake where family and friends could vacation and spend countless hours fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the outdoors. And then she'd travel and discover new territories of the world. We asked her how she hopes her students will remember her and her class, and she responded, "My humor and the goofy books that I read to end each day. I like to call this time of the day, "Mrs. Klopf's Silly Story of the Day." I believe creating a fun and engaging reading environment at an early age will create a lifelong passion for reading". Lastly, she shared that the Disney character that best represents her is Dory. "No matter what happens in life, you just have to keep swimming! Just keep swimming, swimming. Life is full of challenges, small and large. It is important to remind not only ourselves but students as well to never give up!" We're grateful to have you in our Huskie Pack, Mrs. Klopf! #Huskietastic #Since1863 #HPSDPackLeader See less
