Meet Lori Erskine Marsh, a distinguished graduate from Hemlock High School's class of 1986, and the focus of our next HPSD Alumni Spotlight. During her time at Hemlock, Lori was a true all-rounder, participating in basketball, volleyball, track, cross country, and band. She fondly remembers the strong sense of community that rallied together to support one another. After graduation, Lori pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Science from Alma College with a major in Biology and minors in Psychology and Health Studies Fellowship. She furthered her studies with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. Hemlock High School's emphasis on the sciences and the opportunity to engage in various activities prepared Lori for her post-graduate life. She credits Mr. West and Mr. Taylor as her favorite teachers, particularly in the sciences. Among her most cherished high school memories are the numerous sports achievements, including district wins in basketball, a victorious volleyball season, and winning the state track championship in 1985. Lori's involvement in band also brought memorable experiences, including competing in Germany, Washington DC, and Japan, and meeting her future husband. Since graduating, Lori has dedicated the last 30 years to helping individuals of all ages improve their daily lives as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist at Children’s Therapy Corner in Midland, Michigan. She is passionate about supporting children and their families in reaching their full potential and raising awareness about different abilities. Lori's advice to current Huskies is to take full advantage of the opportunities to be involved in various areas offered by their school. Lori Erskine Marsh's journey from Hemlock High School to a fulfilling career in pediatric occupational therapy exemplifies the impact of a well-rounded education and the dedication to making a difference in the lives of others. #AlumniSpotlight #HemlockHuskies #BetterTogether #Since1863

It's #ThrowBackThursday, and today we're throwing it all the way back to 1983 with this pack of painting Huskies. Despite the graffiti vandalism, these students banded together under the cover of night, armed with paintbrushes and determination, to reclaim the Steno building's integrity. Their actions embody the values of responsibility and community pride that continue to define our #HemlockStrong legacy. 📷 Dana Gariglio Lockwood, Charlene Fortin, Michael Rant, Teresa Garno, Cindy Beck, and Sarah Hollingsworth. #Huskietastic #TBT #HuskiesOf1983 #HemlockStrong #HemlockHuskies

There was excitement in the air this past weekend at Calvary Baptist Academy where our Kindergarten students competed with other schools in the Lego League Masterpiece Challenge. After the judges came around and questioned the students about their builds, how the coding worked, and the core values our Super Robots won the Innovation Award and our Max Bots and Radical Robots each won the Coding Award. The students then had the opportunity to view the high school robots shooting hoops and then participate in STEAM activities. The joy and excitement in the gymnasium was palpable. Way to #PullTheSled, little Huskies. #HandsOnLearning #BetterTogether #HemlockHuskies

Hemlock High School’s theatre program recently held its first ever induction ceremony for the International Thespian Society 🎭 “We are really excited to have this opportunity here at Hemlock. Our drama program works extremely hard all year and the students put their all into every show they perform here at Hemlock and it’s a wonderful way to have them recognized for all of their hard work.” says the high school’s theatre director Megan Scott. The Hemlock Troupe 11360 inducted students who qualified based on the quality and quantity of work in all realms of theatre. Being a member opens students and troupes up to opportunities for learning experiences, competitions and scholarships as well as recognize students achievements and hard work on their shows during the school year. “We had a wonderful drama season this year with selling out of both the fall and spring high school shows before the shows were even performed, and this was a great way to celebrate their accomplishments” says Megan. The International Thespian Society is an honor society for high school students, and since 1929, it has had 2.4 million thespian students inducted. #HemlockHuskies #LoveOfTheArts #LifeReadyHPSD

This week's #StaffSpotlight is on the effervescent Elizabeth Henninger, one of our fabulous food service heroes who has worked here at Hemlock Public School District for over 20 years. We'd love you to get to know her a little better, so here are some fun nuggets of information about her: • She has donated over 106" of her hair to 'Children with Hair Loss' over the past 13 years. • Her favorite part of her job is interacting with all our students, while her least favorite part part is trying to remember all their names. • She enjoys writing poetry, and has even written poems for friends navigating life-changing events to help them as they process their struggles. • What could she listen to on repeat? Anything by the Trans Siberian Orchestra. • A quote she lives her life by is: “If He knows. isn't that all that matters?" We’re grateful you’re part of the Huskie Pack, Miss Elizabeth. Thank you for all you do for our incredible students here at HPSD. #PackLeaders #Huskietastic #BetterTogether #Since1863
