• 2025 grads Makenna Church and Lilly Spillane return with their own creative vision
• First-time sand sculptors Lydia Olinger and Morgan Metiva are joining the fun with a fresh perspective

🐾 Pawsome Summer Adventures | Little Lucy Massa and her traveling Huskie pal Harlo headed to Southern Illinois this summer, where Lucy served as the flower girl in a beautiful wedding—and Harlo got in on the fun too.
They were so busy dancing the night away, they forgot to snap a photo together… but word has it Lucy made sure Harlo snuck into the professional shots (photographic proof coming soon). From posing with the wedding party to being drawn into the guest book poster, Harlo’s first wedding was one to remember.

We’re Not Done Yet 🚧 At Hemlock Public School District, the doors may be open, but that doesn’t mean we’ve crossed the finish line. “Open for business” isn’t the same as a grand opening—and even a grand opening doesn’t always mean we’re 100% complete.
Some of our projects—from funding to architectural drawings to final walk-throughs—take years to go from idea to reality. Some feel like watching construction is as slow as grass growing. Others think it’s magic: poof—there’s a brand-new building. The truth? It’s somewhere in the middle (usually with a little mud on our boots and a to-do list in hand).
We welcome your feedback—we really do—but we also kindly ask for a little grace and a gentle recalibration of expectations. We’re committed to excellence, but excellence takes time, patience, and yes, sometimes a little more paint.
Thanks for pulling the sled with us. The best is still ahead.

Makenna put her impressive art skills to work, making the playground at Hemlock Elementary even more vibrant and welcoming for our students. Her creativity is truly making a difference, and we're so grateful for her contribution.
