⚙️ This week, our FLL LEGO Robotics team SuperBots showcased their hard work and creativity, presenting their robot to parents and coaches in preparation for States this weekend in Mason. Congratulations to these young innovators for their teamwork, dedication, and incredible success. 🏆 You crushed it in competition last month, bringing home 1st Place for Robot Performance Award and 2nd Place in the Champions Award. 🎓 Alumni Spotlight | Lauren Culver (Devereaux), a proud graduate of the Class of 2013, was actively involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Class President, Spanish Club, Yearbook Committee, Softball, Pompon, Volleyball, Track & Field, and Basketball during her time at Hemlock. She cherished the close-knit community, where everyone knew and cared for each other, a unique quality she misses since moving to larger cities. After Hemlock, Lauren pursued her passion for learning at the University of Michigan, earning a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience. She continued her journey at Wayne State University, where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine, and is now completing her Neurological Surgery Residency at Houston Methodist Hospital. Hemlock played a key role in shaping her success, teaching her to balance diverse activities, hone leadership skills, and foster a lifelong love of learning. Lauren credits Ms. Geann Schmidt, her first-grade teacher, as a lasting inspiration. Ms. Schmidt’s positivity and enthusiasm ignited Lauren’s excitement for school and learning. She also holds a special place in Lauren’s heart for remembering her connection with her now-husband, Garrett Culver, whom Lauren met in Ms. Schmidt’s class. One of Lauren’s favorite memories was being on the homecoming court with Garrett, an experience they both treasure. Since graduating, she is most proud of earning her medical degree and progressing through her demanding neurosurgery residency. Currently, Lauren works as a Neurological Surgery Resident in Houston, Texas. Her role involves daily operations, ICU and bedside procedures, and caring for patients at various stages of treatment. From removing brain tumors to correcting spinal deformities, her work transforms lives and fulfills her goal of making a meaningful impact. Her advice to current Huskies: “You truly can do anything you set your mind to! I thought that being a neurosurgeon was too big of a goal for a girl from a tiny farm town, but I have learned that hard work and determination can get you wherever you want to be.” #HemlockHuskies #AlumniSpotlight #LifeReadyHPSD #Since1863

The universe is clearly conspiring against us getting any sleep the last night before Christmas break ends. Our Huskie Pack will be up late, roaring for the Lions tonight 🦁🏈, but don’t worry—they’ll show up tomorrow morning with that same level of energy ready to learn (right?). Let’s channel that excitement into the classroom as we roll into the 2nd half of the school year going strong. 💪 #PullTheSled #GoLions #HuskieSpirit

Hemlock: Where Magic Happens. This year, our theme has been "Bring the Magic," and guess what? The universe delivered—complete with rainbows, unicorn vibes, and maybe even a leprechaun or two sneaking around campus. But here’s the real magic: you, our amazing community. Your unwavering support has helped us create a brighter tomorrow for our students, staff, and families. From investing in our schools to showing up when it matters most, you’ve made Hemlock a place of possibility, growth, and hope. As we look to the horizon (and this perfectly placed rainbow 🌈), we’re reminded of how fortunate we are to have this pot of gold—our students, staff, and community—working together to make each day better than the last. Thank you for helping us "Bring the Magic" to life. #BringTheMagic #RainbowsAndUnicorns #GratefulForOurCommunity #HemlockHuskies
