The Hemlock Middle School PTO and the Hemlock Pep Club have put together a fantastic lineup of events for the last two days of school to celebrate the amazing Class of 2030.
Mark your calendars and come help us make these final middle school memories special:
Thursday, June 4th
Chalk the Walk (Thursday Evening): Stop by the HMS sidewalk anytime on Thursday evening to write an encouraging, celebratory, or sweet chalk message for your student to see on their last day!
Friday, June 5th
Clap Out: Join us outside the HMS main doors on Friday to cheer, clap, and make some noise for our 8th graders as they exit through the front doors!
Pizza Picnic (Immediately After School): The celebration continues at Richland Township Park! All 8th graders are treated to a fun pizza picnic right after the final bell.
Keep an eye out for some awesome new gear! The Hemlock Pep Club has generously purchased class t-shirts for the students who requested one.
Thank you to everyone in our amazing community for helping us say farewell to the Class of 2030. Let's make it unforgettable!

The hall turned into a runway as students designed, folded, and tested their best creations - we think we definitely have some future aerospace engineers in the making!

Huge thank you to everyone who packed the bleachers, to the parents for their endless support, and to these incredible musicians for putting on a fantastic show. The acoustics might have been different, but the talent was exactly the same!

We watched our eighth graders take a giant step forward as they visited the High School. Seeing them welcomed so warmly into the halls where they will soon be freshmen was a proud moment for all of us - even if it's hard to believe how fast they've grown.
At the same time, we had the joy of opening our own doors to the entire fourth-grade class from K.C. Ling Elementary. Our staff and students were thrilled to host these future fifth graders, guiding them through building and locker tours. A highlight of the day was our student panel, which did an amazing job answering questions and turning transition worries into genuine excitement.
It’s a privilege to be a part of these milestone moments, watching one class ready itself for high school while welcoming the next generation into our HMS family.

This is your reminder to stop by Legend Gymnasium tonight at 7:00 PM for our Spring Band Concert! We are expecting rain this evening, so the location has been changed to an indoor setting. 8th-12th grade band students will be showcasing their talents and the hard work they've put in all year long. It's sure to be an unforgettable event - see you in the gym!

Our Student Council and National Junior Honor Society students took a field trip to watch a Great Lakes Loons game this week.
This social outing was an opportunity for them to have fun with their peers after a year of hard work and dedication. The day was made even better when their advisors participated in a race to see which ice cream topping was the fastest - we hear that caramel was the winner!
We're so happy that these upstanding students had a great time (and congratulations to Caramel).

They created Growth Mindset Gumball Machines and flower beds filled with positive messages and encouraging words to support our 6th and 7th graders during tough times. Each gumball and flower is a reminder to stay strong, keep trying, and believe in yourself even when things feel hard.
It’s amazing to see our older students stepping up as leaders and spreading kindness throughout our school. Small messages can make a big difference, and these students are helping create a more positive and supportive community for everyone.
Way to go, Mrs. Slominski's Growth Class!

Emmeline was nominated by Principal Lori Gensch, who had this to say about her remarkable transformation: "Emmeline has demonstrated outstanding perseverance and personal growth. Throughout the year she has developed into a focused, goal-driven student who is committed to her success. Her dedication, resilience, and determination to improve truly exemplify the spirit of the Turnaround Achievement Award."
All of us here at HMS are so incredibly proud of you, Emmeline. The example you've set shows what it means to "Pull the Sled!"
