all-sport honorees

On Friday, February 6, 2026, Hemlock Public School District welcomed back its All-Sport Honorees from the Classes of 1965, 1975, 1985, 1995, 2005, 2015, and 2025. While not all honorees were able to attend, it was a meaningful opportunity to recognize their athletic achievements and lasting impact as Huskie student-athletes.

Gary Sanford | Class of 1965

Following high school and college, Gary Sanford remained in the Hemlock community and stayed actively involved. Both of his children graduated from Hemlock, and he and his wife, Mary Jane, attended as many of their children’s activities as possible. Sanford has been a long-time member of the Hemlock Lions Club, served sixteen years on the Hemlock Board of Education, and has spent fifty years serving on the Salvation Army of Saginaw County Advisory Board.

Greg Princinsky | Class of 1975

Greg Princinsky was a member of Hemlock’s undefeated football team and also competed in basketball and baseball during his high school career. Following graduation, he attended Northwood University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and continued to compete on the football team. Princinsky also proudly served in the United States Navy. He passed away in 2024, and Hemlock Public School District is honored to recognize his athletic accomplishments and legacy as part of the All-Sport Honorees.

Julie Watson | Class of 1985

Julie Watson shared a message encouraging current Huskie athletes to try new things and stay persistent. She discovered her success in distance running during middle school, continuing to work through challenges until finding her strength. That dedication led to a state championship and a college scholarship to Eastern Michigan University, where she competed successfully in both track and cross country. Watson credits hard work, determination, and believing in herself for achievements that exceeded her own expectations.

Greg Gorsline | Class of 1985

Greg Gorsline played baseball in Louisville, Kentucky, and earned a degree in Business Administration. He has been married to his wife, Kim, for twenty-nine years and they have three children. Gorsline has coached baseball at Hemlock since 1990 and has been involved with Hemlock Youth Baseball and Softball for more than twenty years. He has been employed at Super Floz Di since 1984.

Kelly Taylor | Class of 1995

Kelly Taylor competed in cross country and track and field during her time at Hemlock. She was a four-time All-State athlete in cross country and also found success as a member of the girls track team. Taylor qualified for the state meet in track and field, adding to her list of individual accomplishments.

Jeremy Ward | Class of 1995

Jeremy Ward earned recognition across football, basketball, and track and field during his time at Hemlock. His honors include multiple All-Conference and All-Area selections in football, conference and county championships in the 800 and 1600 meter races, a Class C Regional Championship, and a third-place finish at the state meet. Ward is currently a representative for the United Auto Workers, serving and protecting the rights of members of UAW Local 699.

Kara Crossett | Class of 2005

Kara Crossett competed in both basketball and softball during her time at Hemlock High School. As a multi-sport athlete, she was a consistent presence in the athletic program and contributed through her commitment, work ethic, and involvement with her teams. Following graduation, Crossett continued her academic and athletic career at Siena Heights University, where she played basketball while pursuing her studies. Now living out of state, she remains a proud Huskie whose experiences at Hemlock helped shape her path beyond high school.

Alahna Vondette | Class of 2005

Alahna Vondette earned numerous honors as a multi-sport athlete, including All-Conference, All-District, MVP, captain, and sportsmanship recognition. She contributed to district championships in basketball and excelled in soccer throughout her career. Vondette currently serves as a middle school English Language Arts teacher at Hemlock and remains active in athletics while raising her family in the community.

Kyle Treib | Class of 2005

Kyle Treib has spent the past nineteen years working at his family business, Central Metallizing. He and his wife, Nicole, have three children who attend Hemlock schools. Treib earned multiple athletic honors, including conference championships, major individual awards, and school records in track and field. He continues to proudly call Hemlock home.

Aubrey Alfano | Class of 2015

Aubrey Alfano was a standout athlete in basketball, volleyball, and softball at Hemlock High School. She earned multiple All-Conference, All-State, academic, and media honors before continuing her basketball career at Concordia University Ann Arbor while pursuing a nursing degree. Alfano now works as a Nurse Practitioner at Covenant Healthcare and recently married fellow Hemlock graduate Reese Engel.

Dylan Smith | Class of 2015

Dylan Smith earned district championships, conference honors, academic recognition, and media awards in both basketball and baseball. He continued his baseball career at Michigan State University, competing nationally at the club level. Smith holds a degree in civil engineering and currently works as a Project Manager for The Christman Company while living in Grand Rapids.

Isabella Curry | Class of 2025

Isabella Curry was a four-sport varsity athlete at Hemlock, competing in soccer, basketball, track and field, and cross country. She earned extensive postseason honors, contributed to multiple championships, and excelled academically as a Top 10 graduate. Curry is currently attending Delta College and is a member of the women’s soccer program, where she was part of a national championship team.

Chad Brown | Class of 2025

Chad Brown was a three-sport varsity athlete in baseball, basketball, and football, earning multiple All-State, All-Region, and media honors. He is currently studying Sports Management at the University of Cincinnati and pitching for the Bearcats baseball program as he prepares for the 2026 season.

Hemlock Public School District is proud to celebrate its All-Sport Honorees and the legacy they have built. Their achievements continue to inspire current Huskie athletes and reflect the tradition of excellence within Hemlock Athletics.

Having our All-Sport Honorees back on campus was a special opportunity to show them all the amazing upgrades and changes to Hemlock Public School District while celebrating their accomplishments. Each of these remarkable athletes has helped build the proud legacy of Hemlock Athletics, and their stories remind us of the dedication, teamwork, and spirit that define Huskie athletes past, present, and future. We look forward to seeing the next generation of Huskies continue this tradition of excellence.
