The Hemlock High School Boys Tennis team closed out its 2025 season with an overall record of 3-7-2, marking a year of steady improvement, competitive growth, and individual accomplishments under Head Coach Kirstin Haltom.

The Huskies demonstrated resilience throughout the season, facing strong opponents while continuing to develop skill and confidence across all eight flights. The team’s efforts paid off at the TVC Conference Tournament, where eight players across five flights advanced to the semifinals. Nick Chasnis (1 Singles) and Cooper Gensch (2 Singles) each earned third-place finishes, helping Hemlock collect four points at regionals, the most for Hemlock Boys Tennis over the last four years.

Leading the way for Hemlock were team co-captains Nick Chasnis and Isaiah Steinert. Chasnis posted an 8-10 overall record at 1 Singles, while the 1 Doubles team of Sam Dunton and Aiden Trinklein finished 11-10 and secured key victories over Ovid-Elsie, Clio, and two impressive wins against John Glenn—one during the regular season and another at the TVC tournament.

One of the most memorable performances of the season came from 2 Doubles players Isaiah Steinert and Max Martinez, who mounted an incredible comeback at the TVC tournament. After dropping the first set 1-6 and trailing 0-5 in the second, the pair rallied to win six straight games, forcing a tiebreaker before falling 7-4. Their determination and fight captured the spirit of the Huskies’ season.

The young roster featured eight sophomores and two freshmen, several of whom were new to tennis and still earned key wins throughout the season. Hemlock’s progress was reflected in its postseason results, placing 8th out of 12 at regionals and 4th overall in the TVC standings, with two flights placing third and five flights reaching the semifinals.

Individual honors included eight TVC Honorable Mention and the TVC Sportsmanship Award presented to Jeremiah Dietrich.

Coach Haltom highlighted the team’s growth and commitment, noting that the players brought a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and sense of humor to every practice and match. The program also benefited from continued family and community support, which played a vital role in the team’s success.

With a large core of underclassmen returning, the future looks bright for the Huskies. The experience and progress gained this season will serve as a foundation for continued improvement and success in the years ahead.
