Lori Gensch, HBA Educator of the Year

Principal Lori Gensch serves as the leader of K.C. Ling Elementary School. Gensch grew up in neighboring Merrill and received her undergraduate from Central Michigan University (2003) and her graduate degree from Saginaw Valley State University (2008). She taught at Freeland Community Schools for 14 years before accepting a principalship with Hemlock Public School District. This is Lori's twentieth year in education. 

Hemlock Business Association Member Lindsay McNalley Kerry said, "On several occasions, I have seen Lori's compassion and caring attitude towards all students. She is exceptional with every student at her school. She goes above and beyond to make all children feel welcomed and valued, and I think she is an amazing asset to Hemlock Schools."

 In addition to being a principal, Lori is married to her high school sweetheart, Mike Gensch. Together, the couple has three boys who are all currently enrolled at Hemlock Public School District, one at each elementary, middle, and high school level.
