We have all seen many things over the years, but we can be rest assured that over the 23 years here at Hemlock Public Schools, John Mansfield has seen it all.  He started his great adventure with Hemlock back in 1999 and has taught Y5 - 12th grades.  Mr. Mansfield has taught many Health and Physical Educations classes over the years, but is currently teaching Physical Education to our 5th – 8th grade students at HMS and Health to our 9th grade students at HHS.

Mr. Mansfield is originally from Higginsville, Missouri where he attended Central Missouri State University before going on to Ball State Firelands and then Saginaw Valley State University.  He has worked many other jobs, such as a car salesman, security guard, clerk, store manager and cemetery caretaker over the years.  He has been married for 33 years and has two grown sons ages 31 and 29.  He has one grandson that keeps him very busy and entertained. When asked what his proudest moment is, he had this to say … “being present (and helping with) the birth of my sons.”

When Mr. Mansfield is not teaching, you can find him hunting, fishing, motorcycling, bicycling, reading or listening to music.  His favorite place to vacation is in Cancun, his favorite author is John Grisham, and his favorite quote is, “I’m only going to make one trip to the store for those 12 eggs”.

Mr. Mansfield was very active in high school and has stayed active with a wide variety of things since those days.  He has coached many different sports: Special Needs AAU Basketball, Soccer, Football, Wrestling, Swimming and Baseball to name a few.  The last weekend in July, you will find him bicycling 300 miles in three days so that children with life-threatening illnesses can receive wishes.

We asked Mr. Mansfield if there was one thing that he could change about the world, what would it be …. “What I really want is for everyone to act right (love your fellow humans), do the right thing and care about what happens to them.”

Mr. Mansfield’s favorite thing about Hemlock Middle School, is that “It feels like home.  The town, the people, the schools, they all remind me of my hometown.””

We are proud to have Mr. Mansfield as part of our HMS Huskie Pack!
