Update

Greetings Huskie Pack:

There is an old proverb that says, "time waits for no man," and this past month indeed demonstrates the wisdom of the ancients. It is February 2022; we are one flip of the calendar away from the second anniversary of the pandemic's start. I hope we all can look back at these days as foundational and beneficial to our school, community, and children becoming stronger, more united, and agile.

Here at Hemlock Public School District, we continue to press forward and offer unparalleled educational opportunities. This past month we launched our first esports team and continue to see students grow and learn inside and outside the classroom. Our partnership with Delta Community College and Hemlock Early Middle College continues to thrive. We are currently preparing to open a space at our high school dedicated to post-secondary studies. Additionally, our school district will be awarded the 2022 Innovative District by the Michigan Association of Computer Users at their annual conference next month, a testament to our instructional staff.

The team here is simply second to none from our support staff, teachers, building principals, and directors all working together. Moving forward in 2022, we have a bigger and bolder vision for our school district and our students. We have worked hand in hand with our stakeholders in crafting our strategic and master plan; like pages of a good novel, these future pages of our story are meant to be read. In the meanwhile, you can learn more about our vision at hemlockbond.com

Right now, we are working on aligning and allocating resources to improve our curriculum to ensure that students receive the best education possible. Our focus is on K-8 Math, high school ELA and Science, and more this year. We have expanded student support and partnered with Paper.co to offer online tutoring 24/7/365 to grades 7 through 11.

However, you choose to support our Huskie Pack; we appreciate all you do for our students and Hemlock Public School District. The green grass picture reminds us that underneath this winter weather are seeds waiting to bloom and grow. Winter cannot last forever!

Until we talk again, be safe, be well, all the best,

Don Killingbeck, Superintendent
