Leadership Profile, Scott Buchman

Leading in good times is a challenge; leading over the last year is more than that; it is multi-faceted, moving targets, dealing with difficult people, which for some starts in the morning when you look in the mirror, and so much more.

The leadership of Scott Buchman, Hemlock Public School District Special Education Director, through the school, shut down, return to learn plan, managing department staffing shortages, and more has kept our special needs students moving forward and learning.

Superintendent Don Killingbeck said, "Scott Buchman led the charge in to keep learning alive in the early days of the pandemic when many others focused on the hurdles or even worse created barriers. He is forward-thinking and focused on student success."

Buchman has a depth of experience as a general education teacher, special education teacher, and special education administration. He has served in a supervisory role at HPSD for several years in a partnership with the Saginaw ISD.
