The Hemlock High School boys varsity soccer team is entering the district tournament with an outstanding 15-0-1 record after completing an undefeated regular season. Under head coach Ryan Hyatt, the Huskies also captured their Tri-Valley Conference division title, giving Hemlock plenty to celebrate as the team prepares for postseason play.

The Huskies closed the regular season on October 8 with a 4-1 road victory over Bad Axe. Charlie Hyatt scored three goals, and Landon Wardin added another. Mason LaVigne, Aiden Grunow, and Wardin contributed assists, while goalkeeper Braden Turner and the defense limited Bad Axe to a single goal.

Strong defensive play and contributions throughout the lineup have been key to Hemlock’s success. In an 8-0 win over Shepherd on September 25, Turner earned his ninth shutout of the season, and every Hemlock player saw action. Noah Van Haitsma, Colton Siler, Wardin, LaVigne, and Hyatt all scored, showcasing the team’s offensive depth alongside another outstanding defensive performance.

The team’s determination was also on display against Clare on September 18. Trailing 2-0 early in the second half, the Huskies rallied behind a free-kick goal from Hyatt and an equalizer from Van Haitsma, assisted by Hyatt. The 2-2 draw preserved Hemlock’s unbeaten record and demonstrated the resilience that has helped carry the team through an exceptional season.

Hemlock now turns its attention to the MHSAA district tournament, hosting Shepherd on Wednesday, October 14, at 5:00 p.m. at Wallace Field, the high school football field. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Huskies as they begin their postseason run. Hemlock Public Schools congratulates the players, coaches, and families on an amazing undefeated regular season and wishes the team continued success in district play. Go Huskies!
