Hemlock Public School District announces that District Athletic Director Angela Pohl has elected to pursue new professional opportunities and will be concluding her tenure with the district.
While transitions are never easy, the district wishes to express its sincere appreciation for Angela's service, leadership, and commitment to the student-athletes, coaches, and families of the Huskie Pack.
Since joining Hemlock Public School District in 2024, Pohl brought with her more than two decades of collegiate athletic leadership experience and immediately went to work supporting athletic programs and creating opportunities for students. During her time with the district, she championed the expansion of athletic opportunities for students, including the addition of Girls Golf and Sideline Cheer, while helping strengthen systems, procedures, and operational expectations that will continue to benefit the district well into the future.
Pohl also played an important role in developing protocols, procedures, and operational plans for several of the district's new and expanding athletic facilities. As Hemlock continues to invest in spaces such as the Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse, the Legend Gymnasium, Wallace Field, Krueger Track, and other athletic venues, her contributions helped establish expectations and processes that will serve students, coaches, and community members for years to come.
"Angela will always be regarded as a champion for student-athletes at Hemlock Public School District," said Superintendent Don Killingbeck. "She is a true professional who brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to our district. Throughout her time here, she consistently advocated for opportunities that would enhance the experience of our students. We are grateful for her service, her leadership, and the many contributions she made to our athletic programs and school community."
The Athletic Director position at Hemlock Public School District is one of the most demanding leadership roles within the organization. The position requires significant evening and weekend commitments, extensive coordination with coaches, officials, students, families, community organizations, and athletic associations, along with year-round planning and oversight of district athletic programs.
"It is a role that requires countless hours and an unwavering commitment to students," Killingbeck said. "At the same time, it is incredibly rewarding. Few positions have the opportunity to impact students, school culture, community pride, and lifelong memories in the way athletics can. We are excited to begin the search for the next leader of our athletic programs and look forward to finding someone who shares our commitment to excellence, opportunity, and the Huskie Pack."
The district will immediately begin the search process for its next Athletic Director.
