Hemlock Public School District is expanding its early childhood programming once again, reinforcing its long-term commitment to serving the district’s youngest learners and supporting families during the most critical years of development.
As part of planning for the 2026–2027 school year and looking ahead to 2027–2028, the district is growing its Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) at the Early Childhood Center. This expansion responds to increasing enrollment demand and reflects a continued focus on access, quality, and strong early learning foundations for four-year-old preschool students.
“Our early childhood program is one of the most important investments we can make as a district,” said Board President Matt Wesener. “When we expand preschool opportunities, we’re not just adding classrooms—we’re meeting families where they are, supporting working parents, and giving children the best possible start before they ever walk into kindergarten.”
GSRP is a state-supported, no-cost preschool program designed to prepare children socially, emotionally, and academically for success in school. Hemlock’s program emphasizes relationships, developmentally appropriate instruction, and a caring, engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
“This growth reflects both the needs of our community and the strength of our program,” said Lindy Beckman, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “High-quality early childhood education sets the trajectory for everything that follows. Our GSRP classrooms focus on curiosity, language development, social skills, and play-based learning—all essential for long-term success. Expanding this work allows us to reach more children and families with intentional, meaningful instruction.”
To support this expansion, Hemlock Public School District will be hiring additional staff for the 2026–2027 school year, including:
GSRP Lead Preschool Teacher
GSRP Assistant Preschool Teacher (ESS/Willsub Employee)
These positions will join a collaborative early childhood team committed to student growth, family partnership, and continuous improvement.
The Early Childhood Center continues to be a point of pride for the district, serving as a welcoming entry point into the Hemlock school community and helping families feel connected from the very beginning.
