Hemlock Public School District is experiencing unprecedented growth in its high school boys golf program this spring, with nearly 30 student-athletes currently signed up to compete. This surge in participation marks one of the largest turnouts in program history and reflects the district’s continued commitment to expanding opportunities for student involvement in athletics.
With the increase in interest and roster size, the district is actively seeking to add both a Junior Varsity (JV) Golf Coach and a Freshman Golf Coach to support student-athletes, promote skill development, and ensure a positive, well-structured experience for all participants.
“This kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident,” said Board President Matt Wesener. “It speaks to the culture we’ve built, the relationships our coaches form with students, and the desire of our kids to be part of something meaningful. We’re proud to support this momentum by investing in additional coaching so every student-athlete has the opportunity to learn, grow, and compete.”
The expansion of the coaching staff will allow for smaller practice groups, more individualized instruction, and a stronger developmental pathway from freshman year through varsity competition.
“Our golf program is growing faster than we’ve ever seen,” said Athletic Director Angela Pohl. “Adding a JV and freshman coach is about doing right by our student-athletes. It ensures safety, skill development, and a great overall experience while maintaining the standards and expectations of Hemlock athletics.”
Hemlock Public School District continues to see increased participation across multiple athletic programs, reflecting strong student engagement and a community that values extracurricular opportunities alongside academics.
Individuals interested in coaching opportunities with Hemlock Public School District are encouraged to apply and become part of a program focused on teamwork, character, and excellence.
