Hemlock Public School District continues to stand out in Michigan as a community where innovation meets tradition, and where the focus always remains on students. From cutting-edge facilities to personalized care, the district is proving that even in a small town, big opportunities are possible—when resources are stewarded wisely and invested in the right places.

Innovation in STEM Education

In May 2025, Hemlock proudly unveiled the KEEL Innovation Center, a major expansion of the Lockwood STEM Center. This new space offers advanced labs for 3D printing, LEGO engineering, coding, and electronics, along with collaborative areas designed to spark creativity and problem-solving. By carefully planning and investing in the tools of tomorrow, Hemlock is preparing students today for life beyond the classroom.

Commitment to Holistic Development

Construction is underway on the Patrick Wolgast Fieldhouse, a year-round facility designed to enhance student and community wellness. Supported through a $1 million Community Project Funding grant and generous private donations, the Fieldhouse reflects both fiscal responsibility and community generosity. When completed in early 2026, it will be a space where health, athletics, and connection thrive.

Strong Community Partnerships

Hemlock’s story has always been one of collaboration. Local businesses and organizations continue to partner with the district to create real-world learning experiences for students. These connections not only enrich education but also demonstrate how shared responsibility and stewardship can multiply opportunities for everyone.

Excellence Beyond the Classroom

From a state-champion robotics team to student-athletes committing to collegiate sports, Hemlock students excel in diverse arenas. Their success is a reflection of the district’s commitment to balancing academic rigor, extracurricular opportunities, and intentional support systems.

Focus on the Whole Child

Understanding that every child is unique, Hemlock has invested in mental health practitioners in each building and embraced restorative practices to foster a positive climate. These decisions reflect the district’s belief that stewardship is not just about facilities and finances—it’s about nurturing the hearts and minds of students so they can thrive.

Growing with Care

For the 2025–2026 school year, Hemlock has adopted a limited School of Choice policy, providing families from beyond district lines a chance to join the Huskie Pack. This careful, intentional growth strategy ensures that resources remain strong, classrooms stay supported, and students continue to receive the high-quality education families have come to expect.

At its core, Hemlock Public School District is committed to stewarding community trust, financial resources, and student potential. By making wise investments, building strong partnerships, and focusing on the whole child, the district is ensuring that Hemlock’s legacy—rooted in 1863—remains strong for generations to come.
