Hemlock Public School District is excited to announce the appointment of Billie Jo Davis as the district’s new Food Service Director. Davis brings more than two decades of experience in food service leadership across education, corporate dining, and specialty food operations.
Most recently serving as Starbucks Store Manager with Metz Culinary Management, Davis oversaw daily operations, staff management, inventory, and brand compliance while ensuring exceptional customer service. Her career also includes leadership roles with Sodexo at Alma College, Aramark at Central Michigan University, and within correctional and K-12 school food service programs.
“I’m excited to be here. I am excited to be part of the Huskie Pack,” Davis shared. “I come from an extensive background of food service, so I’m eager to jump in and move forward on a positive note.”
Davis began her career as Assistant Food Service Director at Alma Public Schools, where she oversaw multi-site operations, managed meal production, and ensured compliance with state reimbursement requirements. She is ServSafe Certified and brings a strong track record in staff development, operational efficiency, menu planning, and maintaining high standards for food safety and quality.
Superintendent Don Killingbeck said, “Billie Jo’s deep experience, passion for serving students, and proven leadership make her an outstanding addition to our team. We are confident she will continue to enhance our food service program for the benefit of our entire school community.”
Davis will oversee the district’s food service operations, including menu planning, nutrition compliance, staff supervision, and meal service for all schools in the district. Her extensive background in both education-based and large-scale food operations positions her well to lead with excellence.
Board of Education President Matt Wesener, added, “Billie Jo brings an impressive blend of operational expertise and a genuine passion for feeding students well. I can tell she is ready to dive in and start doing what she loves. I’m excited to see her leadership strengthen our food service program and positively impact our students every day.”
