Hemlock Public School District is proud to recognize Dr. Katherine Ellison, Vice President of the Board of Education, on her recent selection to the Leadership Saginaw Class of 2026. This 10-month program, facilitated by the Saginaw County Chamber of Commerce, cultivates leadership development and civic engagement across the region.
Leadership Saginaw brings together a diverse cohort of professionals from business, education, government, and nonprofit sectors to explore key issues impacting Saginaw County. Program participants engage in immersive sessions on education, public policy, health care, economic development, and more—all designed to foster deeper community connections and collaborative problem-solving.
Hemlock Superintendent Dr. Don Killingbeck shared, “Dr. Ellison’s passion for public education and thoughtful leadership are evident in everything she does. Her selection for Leadership Saginaw is well-earned, and we are excited to see how she will leverage this experience to further strengthen our district.”
Dr. Ellison’s selection reflects her long-standing commitment to public service, education, and community storytelling. In addition to her role on the Hemlock Board of Education, she serves as Vice President of the Saginaw Intermediate School District Board and as the Marketing Coordinator for the Castle Museum of Saginaw County History.
Board President Matt Wesener added, “Katherine brings heart and insight to every conversation. Her voice is a powerful asset on our Board and in our community. Leadership Saginaw is gaining someone who understands what it means to serve and to lead.”
Through her roles in education and public history, Dr. Ellison continues to advocate for opportunities that bridge schools and communities. Her participation in Leadership Saginaw will help elevate Hemlock’s voice in regional conversations, while reinforcing the district’s commitment to excellence, collaboration, and student-focused decision-making.
