Hemlock Huskies Pilot Freckle

Hemlock Public School District will be piloting Freckle for the remainder of the school year, primarily in grades Y5/K-8. Freckle is a digital learning tool that helps scaffold learning and provides material and content at the appropriate level for each individual student. In today’s, digital world where each of us has their own personal radio like Pandora or Spotify, Freckle does the same thing, but for learning.

Superintendent Killingbeck said, “We want to explore Freckle and options that help empower our students to be in charge of their individualized learning.”

Hemlock Public School District has a curriculum council comprised of teachers and administrators from each of our school buildings to ensure that the curriculum is being reviewed and updated, and materials are current. Freckle was an option that curriculum council members wanted to explore more in depth.

Principal Lori Gensch said, “We are excited to offer Freckle to our students and teachers. Freckle is a differentiation platform that allows teachers and administrators to monitor progress at an individual, class, school, and district level.  Teachers can pinpoint student gaps and identify students that are ready for enrichment, extension, or intervention.  It allows every student to learn and understand material at their own level in an interactive and engaging way."
