Mary Ann Ling

Hemlock, MI- The Hemlock Board of Education unanimously voted to name the space that services as the district board room and professional development area as the Mary Ann Ling Governance and Professional Learning Center. The district will host a grand opening event for the Mary Ann Ling Governance and Professional Learning Center on Wednesday, December 1st at 5:30 PM on the East Side of Hemlock Elementary located at 200 Wilson Street.

Board President Matt Wesener said, “In my time on the board I had both the opportunity and pleasure to serve with Mary Ann.  She has given so much to Hemlock Schools over the years. She is truly a wonderful person and in recognizing her dedication and efforts to Hemlock this is an honor well deserved. Thank you Mary Ann.”

The Mary Ann Ling Governance and Professional Learning Center is a modern, multifunctional space that can flex in a moment's notice. The space goes from board meeting to professional development center in 30 seconds flat. A lot of the flexibility has to go to an award-winning design, which was done by Lindsay McNalley from McNalley Office Services. The space has already been used several times for professional development, lunch and learns, used daily for informal meetings, board meetings, and more.

Mary Ann Ling served the school district for over 40+ years, first as a teacher (37 years) and then as Board of Education member (8 years). Dr. Don Killingbeck, Superintendent said, "Mary Ann and her husband Tom are great people, salt of the earth, and so kind. Mary Ann is always focused on what is best for kids and only ever desires that each child, the school district, and community to find success."

Please consider joining us at Hemlock Elementary on Wednesday, December 1st at 5:30 PM for the Grand Opening and to celebrate Mary Ann Ling.
