Josh Earle

Hemlock, MI- One of  Hemlock Public School District's newest teachers didn’t have to travel far for their interview, they had worked for the school district for nearly a decade as a custodian and coach. Josh Earle is trading in the broom closet for the classroom. He applied and competed with a solid pool of candidates for a physical education position after the retirement of long time and beloved teacher, Brandon Kalina, retired at the end of last school year.

Principal Lori Gensch said, “"We are ecstatic to have Mr. Earle join our teaching staff.  He has devoted years of his life to the HPSD and is committed to providing the best physical education experience possible for our little Huskies.”

Hemlock Public School District recently reviewed and revamped their physical education K-12 curriculum and updated resources and materials this summer as needed.

Superintendent, Dr. Killingbeck noted, “Josh Earle knows the district and culture that we have cultivated of service and being student centered. He is committed to providing our students and families with the best.”

Earle graduated from Hemlock High School in 1997 and went on to Saginaw Valley State University to earn his degree in education. He coached and worked as custodian with the district since 2011 in large part due to the lack of teaching jobs in the area at the time. As the primary caregiver for his elderly aunt, he was not interested in moving out of the area to find work.

Hemlock Public School District focuses on creating a world-class educational experience for students, staff, and families. Josh Earle will work to continue that focus and create a legacy of his own for years to come.
