Ling Retires, Again

An end of an era, Mary Ann Ling followed in the footsteps of both her father, Dr. Alex Manzoni, and father-in-law, Dr. Kenneth C. Ling, with service on the Hemlock Public School District Board of Education. Her family roots are deep throughout our community and go back for generations and generations. Her commitment to our community, school, and children is unparalleled. Mary Ann spent 37 years in the classroom as a teacher. After retiring from teaching, she continued to substitute for two more years until being elected to the Board of Education in 2012.

During her tenure on the school board, her steady, supportive leadership, commitment to the big picture, and focus on children led to many positive improvements in the district, such as:

  • Launch of Hemlock Childcare
  • Launch of Hemlock High School Early Middle College
  • 1:1 Technology
  • Fiscal Health
  • Policy Manual updated
  • Enrollment stability
  • Launch of STEM/Robotics K-12

“Mary Ann Ling is a professional, her dedication to our school and community is unmatched, and I am a better person and leader from the opportunity to work with her over these last 8 years. She will be greatly missed,” said Superintendent Don Killingbeck.

The district honored Mary Ann Ling at their regular December meeting with a plaque and a short video presentation.
