Dear Huskie Pack,

As many of you already know, Governor Whitmer has extended the school shut down tentatively to the end of the school year. We encourage all our students and families to stay at home and stay safe.

We pride ourselves in our strong partnerships with parents and families. At this time, our partnership is more important than ever before. Our commitment to our students and families remains unchanged at this time; we will continue to do our best to provide the best possible solutions as we work together to find the right answers.

Although our face to face instruction is shut down tentatively through the end of the school year,  we will work to address a clear, concise learning plan supporting all of our students along with other things like grade progression, events like graduation, prom, and more with the best interest of our students and families at the forefront of our decision-making process.

On Monday, April 6th, we will return from our scheduled spring break (3/30-4/3), so our online learning and educational packets will be back in place to allow students to continue to keep learning alive as we partner together with you.  It is essential that our students have some level of normalcy and routine during this extended time away from our school buildings.

Foodservice continues next week (April 6th) on Monday and Wednesday from 10 AM to 12 noon with parents pulling up to door #29 on the east end of Hemlock Middle School for curbside service.  Friday, April 10th is Good Friday and a contractual holiday for our staff, so there will be no food service next Friday. We continue to review and consider additional safety protocols for all involved.

If you should have questions or concerns, please reach out to our building principals so that we can know how to meet your needs best.

Again, we know this is not business as usual for us, so if you have a special education child or one with a 504 and have concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to their service provider or our Special Education Supervisor, Scott Buchman.

These are uncharted territories that we are traveling together. As a community, we can make sure that we have the best possible outcomes.

All the best,

Don Killingbeck, Supt.
