Hemlock, MI -  Hemlock High School’s Culinary Class did it again! Just before Christmas, they did another good deed. Recently, students provided a catered luncheon to those who cater to others at Saginaw’s Rescue Mission. Students had the opportunity to share their developing skills with a delicious meal consisting of tomato Florentine and chicken tortellini soup, spinach salad with toasted almonds and cranberries in a poppy seed vinaigrette, and southern biscuit muffins. Students also made two delicious desserts to finish the meal off; candy cane cookies and chocolate mint truffles.

“Our guests just kept raving about the soups and desserts!  Everything was so wonderful,” commented Ms. Jenny Deweese, Volunteer Director at the Mission. “They were so impressed all the food was made by teenagers! They were all very thankful.”

Hemlock culinary students continually learn how to develop batches, make comprehensive grocery lists, plan/prep schedules, and of course, prepare the foods.

“My students work very hard,” said Mrs. Gerard, “but my favorite part is always seeing their smiles when they realize how many abilities they each have to share with others.”

The Culinary Class learns, prepares, and tries different foods throughout the school year.
