creativity

Creativity is one of the four skills integrated across every academic subject. The others are Communication, Collaboration, and Critical Thinking.

Our staff is committed to helping our students grow these “4C’s” so they can apply these skills in their current classwork, to high school, and in their college and career settings

We practice them every day in many different ways:

  • STEAM class projects where students create computer coding to operate robots and use TynkerCAD to design and 3D print items.
  • Spanish class skits using language and movement.
  • Science labs where students develop and implement scientific theories.
  • Math class group problems where they work together to solve real-world math problems (the photos are from 6th grade math class with Mr. Stedry).
  • Art classes, band, and drama in which students work together to expand their ideas and skills to create visual and performance works of art.
  • English classes where students study writing in all its forms and then write across genres as well--in poetry, stories, speeches, and prose.
  • Social studies classes when students study ancient Hammurabi's laws and develop an opinion of their fairness to explain to classmates using facts.Hemlock Sinking Fund
