School Board policy dictates that all students must complete their middle school requirements before they can enroll in courses at our high school. This means if your child fails a middle school course in a core subject, then your child is in danger of not entering high school with her/his grade peers unless she/he passes these failed courses.
If your child is in 8th grade, unless she/he is able to either redo and pass marking period assessments OR pass the semester exam he/she will need to complete this course in summer school or enroll in our alternative education program next fall until these courses are satisfactorily completed. If your child is in 6th or 7th grade, unless she/he is able to either redo and pass marking period assessments or pass the semester exam she/he will need to complete this course in summer school or complete it next year and then finish their requirements in summer school next summer.
Our summer school program begins the week after school ends and meets (8:30 AM- 12:30 PM.) The scheduled dates are June 12-15,19-22, 26-29, July 10-13, 17-20. It will be led by a certified teacher and completed online using our Compass Learning Online Learning Program. Attendance is mandatory—students are allowed up to two absencesbefore being dropped from the program. Because the program is web-based, students may complete lessons here at school or anywhere they have web access. All unit tests must be completed in the classroom for security reasons. The fee for this program is $75 per semester course.
