Hemlock STEM/ROBOTICS  Awarded Saginaw Community Foundation Grant

Hemlock Public School District was recently granted $10,000 from the Saginaw Community Foundation-Dow Chemical Company Foundation Donor Advised Fund.  The grant is to fund the STEM Emphasis at Hemlock Elementary Schools MakerSpace and Middle School Robotics.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) Teacher Emily Schmidt shared, “I am so excited for the technology and materials that we will be able to provide students from this grant. We are very grateful for the expanded number of experiences that this grant from the Saginaw Community Foundation-Dow Chemical Company Foundation Donor Advised Fund will allow our students to have in STEAM and Robotics."

Hemlock Public Schools is honored to be granted this award from the Saginaw Community Foundation as our schools focus on continual improvement with how to best serve students, families, and our greater community.

Tom Lockwood noted, “This grant provides critical resources to help us expand our STEAM emphasis. We've created an elementary MakerSpace and employed a STEAM teacher because it's important to our students' future. Thanks to this generous grant from the Dow Chemical Company Foundation and the Saginaw Community Foundation we will be able to continue this essential work by providing students Coding (computer programming), CAD, 3D Printing, and hands-on experiences. Our students will live in a world where global competition is greater than ever, where technology skills are required. For those who are prepared, the future is full of exciting, rewarding, and fulfilling careers." 

The Saginaw Community Foundation awards grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, local units of government, and religious institutions.
