Hemlock Honors our Senior Citizens and Veterans

Hemlock Public School District hosted their 47th annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner to over 230 community members and area business sponsors.

Senator Ken Horn was in attendance and thanked all our honored veterans for their service and dedication to our country.  Students passed out “thank-you” cards and poppies.

Jamie Otter, MS Counselor/Social Worker, recruited 37 students to help decorate, set tables, serve meals, pass out raffle drawings, and clean up.  She said, “This experience allows students to connect with the Hemlock community and to show their appreciation to the older generations. It was an honor to witness the positive atmosphere that these students created and the dedication they showed for this event. Thank you to everyone who put a lot of time and effort into making the Thanksgiving Dinner a successful event every year.”

Kelly Phillion, Director of Communications, said, “This was such a well-deserved community outreach. It was such a pleasure to give back to our seniors for their support to our district over the years.”

Superintendent Killingbeck stated, “This is one of the best events of the year; it brings so many together to celebrate and enjoy a good meal and a good time.”
